The NFL Draft just wrapped up in Detroit and was a resounding success! A record-setting 775,000 plus visitors from across the country converged on the city to experience the Draft, taking in all Detroit has to offer and generating an estimated $175 million economic impact on the region.
Community events have long held the power to bring people together and highlight a community’s history, culture, and identity. Now more than ever, local governments and their community partners are holding events year-round of all types and sizes to help catalyze economic development and placemaking efforts.
Join us on Thursday, May 16, as we hold a SEMCOG University workshop about how communities are leveraging community events to bolster economic development. This workshop will focus on topics such as coordination, planning, marketing, and measuring impacts. Additionally, we’ll hear from experienced event managers and marketing pros about pitfalls to avoid and lessons learned along the way.
We hope you will be able to join us! A light breakfast will be available at 8:30 a.m.
