Executive Committee meeting - July 2025

July 25, 2025

The Executive Committee, as the chief working committee and financial control body, conducts SEMCOG’s main policy work and monitors SEMCOG operations. Executive Committee delegates and alternates are elected within caucuses of their peer organizations (cities and villages, townships) as county-wide representatives. The Executive Committee proposes, discusses, and reviews regional studies and plans, and takes action on policies and legislative positions. The Executive Committee typically meets six times a year in the months when the General Assembly does not meet.

SEMCOG sees inclusion as an environment that values, respects, and welcomes all perspectives, especially ensuring underrepresented groups are included. Together, it is our goal to promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion to fulfill our mission and achieve our vision for a connected, thriving Southeast Michigan. The Americans with Disabilities Act and Rehabilitation Act require state and local boards and commissions to provide reasonable accommodations to individuals with a disability who request an accommodation in order to participate as a board or commission member or as a member of the general public in meetings that are required by the Open Meetings Act to be held in a place available to the general public.

This meeting will convene in-person at SEMCOG’s downtown Detroit offices. In-person attendance is required for voting Committee members, consistent with the Open Meetings Act. However, qualified individuals under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) can request remote attendance to participate in the meeting by contacting Michael Spence, SEMCOG Government Affairs Manager. Subject to SEMCOG receiving medical support to its satisfaction (on a case-by-case basis), only individuals with a disability as defined by the ADA who cannot participate in-person without reasonable accommodation will be allowed to participate remotely.

Parking information

Parking Validation: Bring your vehicle license plate number to SEMCOG. DO NOT PAY using the QR code in the garage

Meeting attendees parking at the 1 State Street Parking Garage (also known as the 1001 Woodward Garage) enter/exit using a pay-by-plate system – without a credit card. If there is a sign saying Badge Holders Only, or Lot Full, and attendant is present, tell them you are there for a SEMCOG meeting and that parking has been reserved. SEMCOG guests should disregard signage posted in the garage with instructions for visitors to scan a QR code. Instead, please bring your vehicle license plate number to the SEMCOG welcome/registration desk, where staff will assist you in entering your plate number for validation.

Note: If the State Street structure is full, additional parking is available at One Campus Martius (OCM) garage at 1140 Farmer St, Detroit, MI 48226 (located one block east of the SEMCOG offices) using the process stated above. When parking at OCM, you may walk around or through the building and cross Woodward to get to 1001 Woodward and SEMCOG's office. SEMCOG is unable to offer parking validation at other locations.
