Member Meetup: Detroit International Wildlife Refuge

Join SEMCOG on a walking tour of the Detroit International Wildlife Refuge and Visitor Center in the City of Trenton. Learn how the refuge enhances nature-based placemaking through land conservation, wildlife preservation, and recreational opportunities such as fishing, hiking, and kayaking.

The Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge is the only international wildlife refuge in North America. The refuge includes islands, coastal wetlands, marshes, and waterfront lands along 48 miles of Detroit River and Western Lake Erie shorelines.

Tour highlights will include:

  • Visitor Center with interactive exhibits
  • Humbug Marsh
  • 700-foot fishing pier
  • Kayak launch

Please wear comfortable walking shoes.
